Soft Dolls and Doll Pairs
Some of the doll couples here are a series of husbands and wives from around the world. Others are 'Portrait" dolls made in the likeness of somebody someone knows. Still others are a product of imagination. I started thinking about dolls like this when I watched one of my daughters receive baby dolls as gifts year after year from everyone for birthday, Christmas, and any other event in between. Yes, little girls like to pretend they are mothers taking care of small babies. Actually the younger the child, the better to have a baby doll. Little girls learn by pretending and in fact, it is easier to train the child when they are teaching their babies the same things. But there is only so much imagination involved there and the older the girl becomes, the less interest we see in pretending to care for babies. But husbands and wives have to think about meals, shopping, work, bills, travel, getting along with one another, and what they are going to do about Johnny! When children are able to focus on the primary relationship in the family, they start preparing themselves for adulthood. Of course we would never tell them that. We just let them play and imagine all the possibilities out there for them.

These dolls are quite large, both being around 2 feet tall. The gentlemen average 25", and the ladies average 20". They are soft-bodied and stuffed with clean new poly fibers. They are sturdily constructed, simple rag dolls with no hidden anatomy.
I used examples of genuine traditional, regional costumes to give these dolls a place in the world. I then designed and built the dolls and costumes from all new materials. All costumes are completely removable. Changes of clothes may be purchased separately, like pajamas and so forth. If you would like changes of costume, just drop me a note telling me what you would like and I will make that for you.
Currently, all dolls are made to order; there are none in stock. You choose theme, skin, hair, and eye shades, costume fabrics, etc. from beginning to end. Please allow 4 to 6 weeks to complete your order.
Pricing and Shipping
Individual dolls start at $35.00 and include a full costume with underclothes and accessories.
Doll pairs begin at $65.00.
Additional costumes will start at $10 each for pajamas and go up to as much as $25 depending upon your request and materials involved. All costumes except for pajamas and outerwear include another set of drawers and appropriate accessories.
Shipping: You must buy some sort of tracking or insurance for these dolls. Therefore shipping to any part of the continental United States of America starts at approximately $10 via Priority shipping for each doll. This is a 2-3 day delivery. Since all dolls are currently made upon order, we will go over the details of shipping to your area individually.
