What's Up with GG? February 5, 2010
New items are being listed in the store fronts for immediate purchase.
SOON shopping cart handle covers, eyeglass cases, and wet bags will all be listed under a main heading called "ACCESSORIES." The eyeglass cases and wet bags are NEW and presently can only be purchased by custom order. Look for these items to appear in these pages shortly. I have some sewing to do before I can update here.
Also new as of this winter season are Winter Bonnets. Request a color, but kindly allow 2 weeks for special requests.
The Girl's Clothing page is being built. I am working on simple classic designs as time permits, but there are a few here now. Look around the catalog and get an idea of the fabrics we have available so you can choose your colors for a dress. We have a large selection of calico prints.
I have unisex styles, so I will be planning another page for boys and girls. I am very limited in fabrics that are typically for boys. I just can't stay away from the flowery calicos when I am shopping, but will try to work on that in the future.
Remember, handling charges are eliminated on orders of 3 or more!!

...Let's pray to God Most High who is on his throne and in control of all things. He is waiting to hear from us. All we need to do is ask. The Father likes it when his children ask Him because it shows that we know He is the only one who can help us.

...much prayer is required for this country; not promises of change made by government policies. Socialism isn't the answer; repentance is. Our founding fathers knew that our constitution would not work unless this country was going to be full of men and women who actually are in fear of God. No amount of legislation, government regulation, or thought control is going to make the United States of America great. True communism cannot be achieved while there are sinful men on earth.
I was going to quote Alexis de Tocqueville here, but I suppose that the authenticity of the quote, as just about everything else in the United States, has been called into question. We don't have to believe the words attributed (or not) to Alexis De Tocqueville. We just have to trust God: If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14.
But if you believe God's Word to be superstition, then study history. Study the Bolshevik Revolution and see for yourself what conditions were in place that set Russia on its path to slavery under a socialist regime. People were angry because the Have's had it and the Have Not's wanted it and felt justified in taking it and spreading the wealth. This same path has been followed by every nation from its rise to its fall. America is on that path now and the conditions, particularly with the Wall-Street economy, are right. Yes, America is slightly socialist. Its socialist programs were put in place because of the hard times that hit America in the 30's. These programs have helped countless numbers of people to survive when there were no jobs. But while there are many arguments and gratitude for these socialist programs, we must be aware that the goal of socialism is communism. In the end, however, it never progresses to communism because under socialism there is never enough wealth to spread. EVERYONE is poor and desperate and desperation ALWAYS brings out the worst of human nature. This nature cannot exist in a communist utopia. Therefore the socialist dictator grabs complete control, his intentions seem to switch from creating a communist utopia to taking over the world, and for some reason, he always outlaws Christianity. This is history and it has never once had any outcome other than enslavement of the people and misery.
America used to be the nation that stopped the spread of this tyranny over human beings and now we are seriously considering becoming one of them? Are we going to close our eyes and shut our ears against the lessons learned by history? Who then will come and rescue us from the misery that history shows is certain to follow?
This country needs prayer.

All I have to say is that Monday will bring enough trouble for the day. So today I will only trust God.
Announcements
Public Law 110-314 (Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act or CPSIA): I am happy to see that the CPSC has placed a one year stay on testing and certification. They have seen the obvious ramifications of this law on our shaky economy. It seems the commission is also letting go of final product testing in lieu of using government certified components.
WE MUST CONTINUE TO FIGHT THIS LAW TOOTH AND NAIL OR YOU WILL SEE THE DEMISE OF CAPITALISM IN AMERICA. This is a dangerous law that has no limits. It is written so badly that new regulations can be added without any further legislation. It is completely open to additional restrictions, rules, punishments, fines, etc without any oversight.
With Obama's plans to bankrupt major portions of the American economy resulting from his irrational fear of global destruction by flatulence global warming ideas, we need this income to pay our utilities. If this law takes away our right to industry because of a microscopic risk then legions of Americans will find themselves cold, homeless, on the welfare roll and then they will also die. I am not exaggerating here. We need to earn money to live. We need safe products, but this reactionary bill is targeting the wrong people and once again, killing Americans.
We are sick to death of the government watching over our children for us and killing them and their entire families in the process. I think it is enough to provide the information and tell people to use their minds to decide which products to buy instead of being forced to buy according to the government.
Wasn't this one of the reasons the Declaration of Independence was signed? Because the king was forcing us to commerce only with his friends?
What else does the CPSIA affect? It seems that now natural fibers without any dyes will be exempted as well as items sold in resale shops, provided these items have not been recalled. I believe that this has always been the case. But the law continues to affect not only manufacturers of items directed toward the 12 and under age group, it also affects all manufacturing and retailers that could possibly be used or handled by the 12 and under age group. My oldest son was wearing a man's size 10 shoe at 12 years old. My young children also use the furniture in our home. They handle the television and computer. They eat using the same silverware as the rest of us. They wash those dishes. They use tools to fix or things or to dissect for curiosity's sake. They sit at the picnic table. SCHOOLS: Every single item inside of a school will need to be thrown out by February 2010 and replaced with government certified items. Can we afford that?
We get much of the children's clothing from our local GoodWill store. Do you realize that this bill will affect charity? The GoodWill and Salvation Army (to name only 2) will not be able to sell clothing and housewares without having this expensive testing done. The government states that without a certificate for each and every item that is sold, it will be considered a hazardous chemical. Can you imagine? Get a hazmat sheet for your son's T-shirt! What about the church bazaars and craft fairs? All of these little items that we love to buy from the ladies that are always working to raise money to help the poor, will be considered contraband if sold after February 10, 2009.
Think about your yard sales and garage sales. Think about the toy police coming to your yard sale and asking for a certificate to show that you have had 3rd party lead and phtalate testing (and whatever toxin of the day will be added every six months without question) before you sold that Tonka Truck for 50 cents. You are facing 5 digit fines and jail time.
Look here now...everyone complains about the welfare recipient, but this bill that takes away our free enterprise and our ability to raise money for charity really gives Americans little alternative. I urge you to continue writing to your representatives and turn the heat up for the next year. They are hoping that we will let up the pressure and that way they will get around us.
